Service and retail sales, reconciled to your POS

Your booking or point-of-sale system (Square, Vagaro, Boulevard, Mindbody and others) records a lot of detail, but deposits rarely match a day's sales one to one. We reconcile POS reports to bank deposits and card processor payouts each month, separating service revenue, retail sales, gift cards, tips and fees so your profit and loss tells the real story.

Tips, commissions and booth rent done right

Tips belong to your team, commissions need to tie to sales, and booth renters are a different relationship from employees. We set up payroll so tips and commissions are reported correctly, track booth rent income by stylist, and help you understand the W-2 versus 1099 line so you're not exposed at tax time. For 2026, cash tips also show up in a new spot on W-2s, and we make sure your payroll is set up for it.

Product inventory without the guesswork

Retail product is cash sitting on a shelf. We help you track inventory and cost of goods sold, flag shrink, and compare product sales to what you're buying so you're not tying up money in slow sellers.

Sales tax and year-end

Retail product sales are taxable in Virginia, Maryland and DC. We file your sales tax returns on schedule, keep your vendor and booth renter information current for 1099s, and give your tax preparer, or us, clean books at year-end.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you work with salon booking and POS systems?

Yes. We work with the reports from common salon and spa systems such as Square, Vagaro, Boulevard and Mindbody, and reconcile them to your bank and QuickBooks each month.

Are booth renters employees or contractors?

It depends on how the relationship actually works: who sets hours, who supplies products and who controls the work. We help you review your setup and keep the right paperwork, and we prepare 1099s where they're needed.

How should tips be handled in payroll?

Tips paid to employees are wages for payroll tax purposes and need to be reported correctly. We set up your payroll system so card and cash tips flow through properly, including the new 2026 W-2 reporting for cash tips.

Do I have to charge sales tax on services?

In Virginia, most personal services aren't taxable, but retail products are. Rules differ in Maryland and DC. We confirm what applies to your business and file the returns.
